Emma Kantor<\/strong> is a Brooklyn-based writer and children’s news editor at Publishers Weekly<\/em>. Her interests include film; comedy (writing and performing); and Italian language\/literature and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Whole Spiel<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emma Kantor<\/strong> serves as children’s news editor at Publishers Weekly<\/em>, the trade news magazine targeted at publishers, librarians, booksellers, and literary agents. Her main responsibilities include editing and producing Children\u2019s Bookshelf<\/a>\u2014the twice-weekly e-newsletter dedicated to kids\u2019 and young adult publishing news\u2014and contributing features<\/a> for the magazine, both online and in print.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, as Publicity and Digital Content Manager at the Children\u2019s Book Council and Every Child a Reader, she oversaw all PR and social media campaigns for the trade association and its literacy initiatives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She graduated cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Vassar College, with a degree in English and Italian. She’s also a graduate of the Upright Citizen Brigade’s Advanced Study Improv program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emma’s essays<\/a> and humor writing<\/a> have been published both online and in print in the New York Times Magazine<\/em>, Boulevard<\/em>, <\/em>the Millions<\/em>, Electric Literature<\/em>, Literary Hub<\/em>, Pigeon Pages<\/em>, Hey Alma<\/em>, the Jane Austen Society of North America <\/em>newsletter, theBelladonna, Little Old Lady Comedy<\/em><\/em>,Points in Case<\/em>, Slackjaw<\/em>, the Madison Journal of Literary Criticism<\/em>, and the Journal of Italian Translation<\/em>, among others. She has workshopped with Michele Filgate and Alisson Wood at Sackett Street Writers’ Workshop in Brooklyn, NY.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
